How to get the best out of your choddy's.

Now there has been loads of articles with reference to this rig and rightly so as it is an awesome way of fishing over straight boilies a real big carp method as that is my preferred way of catching them.
Hopefully this piece will help explain why me and my friends use this method for a lot of our own angling, I always wanted a way to fish where I did not need a marker float and spod rod etc and scare the fish when they were so happy performing great displays and plenty of fizzing and once I started using this set up I could cast my rods over feeding fish and get a bite.
There are obviously a few principles to consider when using this rig the first is your hook points they have to be sharp and change the hook every time you catch anything,
Next the positions of your top bead is important what I mean is how the rig works is that the hook section fly’s up the lead core leader and will obviously stop where the top bead is placed.
The placement of the top bead is very important as when im chucking at showing carp I have my bead up at the very top of the leader and let nature take its course and let my pop up find exactly where it wants to sit, but when fishing into holes in the weed where I have to cast and get the lead into the hole in the weed I will pull the top bead down and have it much closer to the bottom bigger bead as to actually get the hook and bait into the hole and not strung up in the weed further up the leader.
Without doubt the most important piece to this rig is the most buoyant pop ups I like to use a 12mm or 13mm cork ball pop up dependent on hook size im using for example if I am using a big hook I like the bigger cork balls as they help with the extra weight of the bigger hook and swivel as remember its all about the buoyancy that makes the hook spin in the carps mouth and helps the rig climb the lead core.
I am now using a bigger bead on the bottom of this set up and we have really worked very hard on this particular product as we wanted the beads to fit tight to our lead core and not move on the cast and the bigger bead helps kick the swivel out on your hook section.
Also the addition of about 2 inches of 1.5 mm silicone to cover the lead eye and to act as a buffer ( PIC 1 ) once a fish is hooked as the hook section is very short and the less hook pulls the better and what with a 2 inch piece of 0.5 mm brown silicone rolled up the lead core leader up against the bottom big bead ( PIC 2 ) there is no real sudden jerky movement once the fish is on as that when most people who ask me about this way of fishing suffer with the most amount of hook pulls.
This rig has to be worked at and what I mean by this is the more you use it the better it becomes and now I am a constant user for a lot of my fishing where a lot of weed is concerned. If you have had your rig hooked up on your rods before casting out check the curve section on the chod still has its form as over time they can straighten out. ( PIC 3).
